Merida Events: Carnival!!
This week, Merida celebrates the closing of the Year of Light. Carnival starts this week, with the Burning of the Bad Humors on Wednesday, the lovely and charming Children's Parade on Thursday (the only one still held downtown...) and more following that out at the fairgrounds in Xmatkuil. Of course, you could also celebrate Carnival in Progreso (lots of music on the malecon on Sunday). Or in any number of cities around Yucatan (check our Facebook page). We've heard that Merida expects over 170,000 visitors during Carnival, so expect crowds here and there. And above all, enjoy yourself!!
