Please be advised that the U.S. Consulate and the U.S. Consular Agencies in Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen will be closed on Wednesday, September 15 through Friday, September 17 for the Mexican Bicentennial celebrations. We will reopen for business as usual on Monday, September 20. If you are a U.S. citizen and have a life or death emergency, have been arrested or are a victim of a serious crime during this time, please dial 999-942-5700 and follow the instructions to be connected to the officer on call.

Lost and stolen passports can be replaced only when the office is open. Please visit our website for more information on what to do in the case of lost or stolen passports.

Road Closures: Expect road closures in and around town squares and more police checkpoints throughout the consular district. In Merida, the major celebration has been moved to the Monumento a la Patria for the evening of September 15. Much of Paseo Montejo and many of the surrounding streets will be closed. The remaining streets will have heavy traffic.

As with any major event, U.S. citizens should remain aware of their surroundings and expect delays and additional road closures.
