About this time of year, if you don't already HAVE plans, you are wondering what to do for Christmas and New Years Eve. Here’s our annual rundown of what the local hotels are doing (all prices are in Pesos). If you know of another special event for either of these two days, feel free to add it in the Comments area.

Hyatt Regency Merida
Christmas at Peregrina
Peregrina will be serving an International buffet Christmas dinner, with music provided by a string quartet.
Price includes IVA, and the propina (tip) but no drinks. Reservation and payment in advance required.
Price: $408 pesos per adult and $ 202 children. Children from 0-6 free.

Christmas at Spasso
Spasso will also be serving a Christmas buffet, with ambient music.
Price includes IVA and la propina but no drinks.
Price: $360 per adult; $180 children.

Fiesta Americana
Traditional Christmas buffet with ambient music. IVA and service included in price but no drinks. Since restaurant is almost full, full deposit is required for reservation.
Price: $359 adults, $199 children.

Intercontinental Villa Mercedes: 'Among Friends and Wine'

This Christmas dinner includes an international buffet with all the Christmas goodies and open bar of Mexican wines. There will be dancing to live music. The buffet includes a salad and delicatessen bar, imported cheeses, smoked salmon, tuna and salmon tartare, and much more. There will also be a seafood cocktail and ceviche station, all different kinds of meat and a dessert menu that includes tiramisu, Black Forest cake and créme bruleé. The restaurant will be open from 8:00 pm to 1 or 2:00 pm, depending on the clients.

Rosas and Xocolate
A three course traditional Christmas dinner will be served at the newest fancy restaurant in the Centro. Live Music (Christmas atmosphere), a bottle of champagne or red wine for every 2 people, and hor’s d’oeuvres are also included. The chef at this restaurant is Mario Espinosa, definitely someone to watch.

Hotel Castellano

Christmas is a buffet dinner with traditional Christmas dishes like Christmas turkey, romeritos (rosemary roasted potatoes), pork marinated with honey, salmon and more. Traditional Christmas desserts like dried fruits, chocolate cake, churros with chocolate or cajeta and more will also be served.

Hotel Casa del Balam
Christmas dinner includes turkey breast, a piñata, punch to drink and live music and traditional sweets. There will even be surprise gifts for guests.

Hacienda Xcanatun
The elegant Casa de Piedra restaurant will be serving a gourmet dinner in its usual elegant setting. Menu highlights include a salad of Baby Lettuce with Cinnamon Caramelized Pear and Roquefort Cheese, and a Puff pastry stuffed with Chaya Mousse and Roasted Chile Xcatic Cream for starters. Entreés include
Roast Stuffed Turkey Breast Marinated with Fines Herbs with Chaya-Potato Au Gratin, Sautéed Green Beans and Gravy. If you are sick of turkey, try the
Spice- Encrusted Filet of Beef with Escabeche-Infused Red Wine Glaze over Parmesan-Smashed Potatoes and Parmesan Asparagus Gratin or the
Crispy-Skin Salmon over Grilled Romaine Hearts, with Crispy Parmesan Potato Gallete
and Red Onion Marmalade. There will be a dessert buffet too! The price of dinner includes your choice of starters, entree, coffee, bread and the dessert buffet.

Hotel Aluxes
This downtown hotel is convenient for a lot of us, and a lot of visitors. Their Christmas dinner will be at the Zac-Nicte restaurant and consists of a five-course meal, including a choice of entrada (house paté or eggplant cream), a choice of salad( apple, tartare or seafood), a choice of soup( corn or spinach) and a choice of four main courses (chicken, fish, pork, beef) and dessert (strawberry cake or Christmas Chocolate Cake). The price includes a Christmas toast, soft drinks, and the dinner, accompanied by live keyboard music.

Price: $310 adults, $220 children from 5-13 years.

$120 open bar including national brandy, rum, vodka and tequila.

Reef Yucatan in Telchac
Stay for two nights (minimum) at this beachside resort and get a Christmas dinner with Santa giving presents to children and a posada and piñatas included. $895 pesos per person, per room. Children under 12 are free. Check in no earlier than 11 am; check out by 6 pm.

Intercontinental Villa Mercedes – A Night In Black and White
This year, the Villa Mercedes celebrates New Year’s Eve with themed tables centered around famous people. There will be tables in black and white representing Marilyn Monroe, Charles Chaplin, Cantinflas, Marcel Marceau, and Carlos Gardel. Each famous person's table has a different menu. Traditionally they also serve cochinita in the early morning hours. The music starts at 10:30 PM. And the restaurant will be open from 9:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Price: $750 include buffet, soft drinks and IVA. Add $250 per person for Mexican liquor bar. And $350 per person for international liquor bar.

Hotel Aluxes – New Year’s Eve Dinner
This will be dancing to a gropu called Enlace, and an international buffet at the Gran Salon Popol-Vuh. They’ll have the 12 traditional grapes, a champagne toast, and national beverages are included.

IVA and service are included in the price of $560 for adults and $310 per child. Festivities start at 9 pm and end at 3 am. Call for reservations and to put down a 50% deposit.

Hacienda Xcanatun
New Year’s dinner at Hacienda Xcanatun... que élégante! The menu includes Smoked Salmon Tart with Fresh Goat Cheese and Brandy-Glazed Grapes for starters. The main course choices are equally delicious looking, and include Shrimp Crowned in Lime Butter with Asparagus, Chaya and Oyster Mushroom Ragout or Cacao and Three Chiles Encrusted Beef Medallions over Creamed Wild Mushroom Ragout, with a Raspberry and Red Wine Glaze. We're hungry just writing about it! There is also a dessert buffet and their traditional semisweet chocolate fountain, finished off with a French sparkling wine toast and the traditional 12 grapes at midnite. All of this accompanied by a jazz quartet!

El Castellano
An international buffet dinner will be served, including snacks and appetizers of seafood, lobster and salmon. The buffet includes prime rib, lamb, marinated salmon, seafood, shrimp, ham and fish and a wide variety of desserts. The price includes the traditional toast and 12 grapes at midnight.

The theme for this New Year's Eve party is "A Night of A Thousand Stars". Dinner includes a welcome gift upon arrival, a banquet dinner buffet with musical entertainment, and 'champers' and fireworks at midnight to ring in the New Year.
