Habla Language School
“To invent is to learn.” - Jean Piaget
As teachers, we often read stories in our classroom, but how can we extend these experiences so that students can “enter the world” of texts? In this workshop Kurt Wootton will present a variety of ways to deepen the literacy experience from a multisensory reading of text into hands-on centers. Teachers will leave with a host of concrete tools they can directly apply to their classrooms.
Kurt Wootton is the co-author of A Reason to Read : Linking Literacy and the Arts; Co-Founder of the Arts Literacy Project at Brown University; and Director of Habla: Center for Language and Culture in Merida, Mexico. He is a leading international expert on using multisensory strategies to build literacy and develop language.
